Position: Healthcare Associate (Contract)


The healthcare associate provides organizational and administrative support to the North Carolina Black Alliance and oversees the program implementation of North Carolina’s new and emerging priorities. The healthcare associate will align the team’s efforts with the priorities of the designated program and provide critical outreach to the target area related to the programs assigned. Reporting to the healthcare coordinator, the healthcare associate is expected to work independently and with the healthcare coordinator to identify strategies, partnerships, and resources to drive toward defined goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deepen community outreach in healthcare communities
  • Develop resource and education materials on relevant healthcare issues in alignment with the organizations’ issue
  • Co-create events for healthcare trainings in community
  • Identify opportunities, in collaboration with the campaign director and healthcare coordinator, to engage the general public through media and resource-sharing
  • Assisting with developing resources for internal staff and external partners
  • Serve as the organizational representative in key coalition and partnership spaces
  • Identifying research and data opportunities to support key healthcare communities
  • Continue to build strategic partnerships with local community groups and state groups to advocate and educate
  • Actively collaborates to deepen the healthcare issue area in programming
  • Work collaboratively with the environmental justice program team

Education & Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications
  • Highly organized, reliable, able to work independently, and able to develop internal and external partnerships
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Willing to try new things and can find comfort in new tools and spaces
  • Comfortable making calls and conversing about Black issues in a non-confrontational manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience meeting deadlines, and the ability to multitask
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and a tendency to explore topics in-depth while exhibiting a strong self-discipline to maintain focus
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends

Expectations:

  • Location: Must live in North Carolina
  • Salary range: $40,000-$45,000 annually
