Position: Grants Process and Project Manager


Advance North Carolina and North Carolina Black Alliance are seeking a Grants Process and Project Manager. This position will project manage the lifecycle of each grant, pre- and post-award, keeping track of deliverables and coordinating between other core functional teams such as Marketing and Finance for inclusivity using internal systems for easy tracking and visibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project manages all aspects of the pre-and post-award process that begins with the proposal and concludes with the final report based on funder requests. This includes letters of inquiry, concept papers, acknowledgment letters and other funder-required documents.
  • Establish and maintain an internal nomenclature system to uniquely identify grant opportunities for NCBA and ANC based on program area and timeline.
  • Update and maintain all internal systems with grant, donor and fundraising information, including Basecamp, EveryAction, and appropriate trackers to assist with identifying gaps and funding opportunities
  • Maintain all internal systems and ensure that grants data is up to date and comprehensive for both NCBA and ANC
  • Support the development of project budgets and logic models.
  • Monitor changes to grant submission portals and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with supporter requirements.
  • Streamline processes for tracking active program activity based on grant funding and redefine workflows to maximize communications and elevate outcomes.
    Refine and manage the overall mini-grant process for all commitment areas.
  • Maintain a system for the team to track program activity and qualitative data for grant reporting, which includes community events, webinars, conferences, count table organizing, etc.
    Identify overall process improvements and provide solutions to enhance the timeliness, effective communication within the organization and overall enhanced work product
  • Develop processes for better tracking grant expenditures internally for reporting that are transferable to Quickbooks and APLOS

Education & Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Communications or Human Service Field
  • Minimum 2 years of nonprofit (c3) and/or (c4) development or related experience
  • North Carolina residents preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in writing persuasive, clear, concise, and visually attractive proposals/reports, preferably in a nonprofit or educational setting, such as appeal writing, grant writing, technical writing, proofreading, editing, copywriting, or other equivalent written communication format
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate overlapping projects and deadlines and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to connect with program teams, understanding work plans and designated program outcomes that are measurable
  • Highly organized, reliable, able to work independently, and able to develop internal and external partnerships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications.
  • Experience communicating with diverse stakeholders in a variety of formats (written, email, face-to-face)

  • Experience with Every Action, Basecamp, Quickbooks and APLOS a plus

Expectations & Compensation:

  • All work is to be completed with standard supervision, confidentiality, integrity, and good judgment in accordance with organization standards.
  • This position will work remotely. Therefore, the candidate should be comfortable working independently and internally motivated to meet critical deadlines in a virtual environment.
  • Compensation: $55,000 to $65,000
