In 2020, the NC Black Alliance, alongside co-petitioners, filed a petition to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) protesting against the harmful chemicals known as Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS). The petition was denied under the Trump Administration, but we didn’t give up. Last year, we re-filed this petition under the Biden Administration, hoping for a different outcome because we know that advocacy moments cannot be compromised, especially when we’ve come this far.
In this vein, we acknowledge the progress of the new U.S. EPA administration and the significant strides it has taken in under a year. Still, we are not satisfied until all the chemicals responsible for harming North Carolinians are tested. We will continue to educate, inform and not relent in any way.
Sign your name to the letter below to share appreciation to Administrator Regan and his team for making progress followed by a call-to-action to grant the full petition and to protect North Carolinians.
