Environmental Justice Money (EJ$) for North Carolina Partnership

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden on August 16, 2022. The intent of the legislation is to curb inflation and address federal deficits by establishing long-term infrastructure that builds clean energy options and healthier environments, particularly for those who have been most harmed by pollution.

The North Carolina Black Alliance and NC Budget & Tax Center are partnering to support community-based organizations and local leaders who want to use Inflation Reduction Act funds to advance environmental justice. Our support could include:

  • Sharing resources, toolkits, or providing information about environmental justice grant opportunities that will be available in the coming year
  • Support defining a project or program plan for your community priorities related to environmental justice, and/or connecting you to technical assistance
  • Facilitating community meetings about upcoming environmental justice funding opportunities
  • For a select number of community organizations, we can offer stipends to community groups willing to participate in cross-community collaboration and advocacy efforts at the regional and state level
