HBCU Campus Engagement
The North Carolina Black Alliance is aware that supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) is an investment in the future of politics, policymaking, advocacy and organizing. With North Carolina being the home to 11 HBCUs, we are committed to ensuring that these campuses have access to fair elections, voter resources and voter education to ensure they feel empowered to participate in local municipal elections, statewide elections and federal elections.

HBCU Think Tank
The North Carolina Black Alliance hosts an HBCU Think Tank every year to unite HBCU student leaders from across the state to foster an environment that promotes collaboration amongst the campuses while continuously brainstorming ways to ensure HBCU students are educated on issues impacting Black and Brown communities. The HBCU Think Tank also assists campuses in the development of yearly voter and civic engagement plans, offers issue focused training and critical thinking activities.
V-OTEC-O-MING HBCU TOUR
The V-OTEC-O-MING HBCU Tour is one of the North Carolina Black Alliance’s most prominent HBCU programs which features all ten of North Carolina’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The major focus of this tour is to excite students about participating in elections and empowering them to show up at the polls. While the event first launched in 2021, it has rapidly grown and partners with other voter-focused organizations such as Common Cause, Black Voters Matter and reputable community members for various aspects. The tour includes but is not limited to DJ battles, interactive obstacle courses, Divine 9 representation, food trucks, merchandise giveaways and most importantly, transportation to polling locations.
RAISING THE B.A.R,
The RAISING THE B.A.R (Black Alliance Representative) programs seeks to identify student advocates that represent their University as it pertains to advocating for youth voter engagement, civic participation and supporting issues that impact their campuses & surrounding communities.
The goal of the program is to empower students to take action and play an active role in creating effective change.
